Robert Lewandowski was born on August 21, 1988, in Warsaw, Poland. His parents, Krzystof Lewandowski who was a Judo champion and national football player and his mother, Iwona was a professional Volleyball player. His upbringing in such a sport-orientated environment led Lewandowski to take an early interest in sports, particularly soccer, which he began playing at the age of eight.
Early Career
He began his career at a local club, Partyzant Leszno and at age 16, Lewandowski moved to Warsaw where he played for Delta Warsaw. It was at this club that he got his first taste of professional soccer. Following this, he moved to Polish third division team Znicz Pruszków in 2006, where he quickly made a name for himself as a prolific goal scorer. He topped the chart for most goals in the league for two seasons. His success did not go unnoticed, and in 2008 he signed for Lech Poznań, a top-tier team in Poland.

Lewandowski's time at Lech Poznań saw him continue to develop and grow into one of the most promising players in Poland.
